Here at no. 11 the aim is not only to teach the craft of jewellery making but also where appropriate to encourage and mentor students to sell their work and create sustainable businesses.
To achieve this the courses provide you with the appropriate skills to identify and develop your individual style and to create professional quality jewellery.
This is possible with courses designed to take you from being a complete beginner and on through an intermediate course. Students can then join our group on a Friday who come together to use the workshop to create a supportive professional network.
As part of this project we are currently planning collaborative exhibitions as Codename Octopus and are developing an on-line shop.
I have been making jewellery since 1984 and graduated in 1989 from Loughborough School of Art and Design with BA (hons) in Jewellery and Silversmithing. I also have received a MA Fine Art from Bath Spa University and have over twenty years of teaching experience both in FE and HE. Most recently I developed an innovative Art and Design degree programme validated by Bath Spa University.
During my career I have been involved in many exciting and varied projects creating public artworks and commissioned sculptures for among others Lord Melvyn Bragg and chef Michel Roux Jnr. I am also a garden designer and contributed to gardens at Hampton Court Flower Show.
